The region of Posázaví is characterized by a beautiful wilderness with a canyon of the Sázava River located in its core. The unbridled and romantic nature is definitely worth exploring and offers many interesting tourist destinations.

Posázaví has been attracting visitors for a long time. It was here that tramp settlements were established, traces of which can still be found all around the Sázava Trail. The Sázava Trail is the oldest nature trail in the Czech Republic, dating back to 1965. You will learn something about the local nature, the construction of the Posázavský Pacific train rail, the Sázava River or the history of tramping.

Another attraction is the Posázavský Pacifik train rail itself. The rail runs from Prague to Čerčany. It is an admirable piece of architecture. 15 tunnels were broken through the rocks on this route and there are 8 bridges on it. The most interesting is the Žampach bridge, which rises on 7 arches over the Kocour valley. With its 41 meters, it is the highest railway bridge in our country.

It is also worth visiting the adit of St. Josef in Dolní Studené above the Kocour valley. From the period when there was a mint in the royal town of Jílové, 200 meters of former gold-bearing mine corridors from the 13th and 14th centuries are accessible here. In the House of Coins on the main square you can see the museum of gold mining and the permanent exhibition on tramping in Posázaví.

Are you looking for more active holiday? You can rent a raft or canoe in Týnec nad Sázavou and ride one of the most beautiful boating routes in our country. You will reach Pikovice where you can return the boat and jump on the train back.

There are many castles in the surrounding area. We recommend you visit the Castle Český Šternberk, Castle Ledeč nad Sázavou, or Castle Jemniště. A nice trip is also the hill Melechov with the ruins of a medieval castle.
